This piece is quite easy to play and can sound good with any second year band. It begins as a lyrical, gentle ballad and builds into a more 'gospel' style.

Conventional cadet concert band: Flutes, Oboe, 2 Clarinets, Alto Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, 2 Alto Saxophones, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, 2 Trumpets, F Horns, Trombones, Baritone & Bassoon, Baritone (TC), Electric or String Bass, Basses, Orchestra Bells (Glockenspiel), Percussion.
Keyboard part is also included which will allow this piece to be performed regardless of any missing woodwind or brass instruments.
Also included are parts for brass band instruments: Eb Horns, Bb Trombones (TC), Eb Basses (TC), and Bb Basses (TC).
INSTRUMENTAL RANGES: 1st Clarinet has several divisi passages and crosses the break going up to fifth line F, 2nd Clarinets remain below the break, 1st Trumpet up to 4th line D, Trombones up to Middle C.
TECHNICAL AND MUSICAL CHALLENGES:
The opening is soft and lyrical, and the solo trumpet and clarinets will need to produce a full, rich, and controlled tone. The second section of the piece goes into a 3/4 swing, and while there are no significant technical challenges, even for the young band, the swing phrasing will have to be played convincingly.
